The front of a dealership is where you see the finished product.
The shop is where you see what a company is really made of.
Walk through Itec on any normal day and there’s a good chance you’ll find something apart on a bench, a component being rebuilt, a technician working through a problem, or someone on the phone trying to track down the part that will get a customer’s machine moving again.
Nothing fancy. Just good people doing good work.
And really, that has been the story of Itec from the beginning.
From a Small Thunder Bay Dealership to Something Much Bigger
Itec began in Thunder Bay in 1999 as a small logging equipment dealership. We certainly didn’t know then exactly what the next 25 years would look like.
There have been new buildings, new product lines, new divisions and plenty of changes along the way. We’ve grown into a group of companies serving customers throughout construction, forestry, mining and energy.
But through all that growth, we’ve worked hard not to lose the things that made Itec, Itec.
For us, growing was never simply about becoming bigger. It was about becoming better at helping our customers.
That meant giving people options.
New or used. Rebuilt or repaired. A new component or a more economical solution. Sometimes the answer is a new piece of equipment. Other times, it’s rebuilding an axle or transmission, repairing a hydraulic component, finding a used part, or simply taking the time to help someone figure out where to start.
We’ll explain the options. We’ll share what we know. And ultimately, we’ll let our customers decide what makes the most sense for them.
That philosophy has quietly shaped much of what Itec has become.
The Part We’re Most Proud Of
After more than 25 years, there are certainly things we could point to with pride.
But it wouldn’t be the equipment sitting in the yard. It wouldn’t be the buildings, the brands we represent, or even how much the company has grown.
It would be our people.
The people who show up every morning and get to work.
The ones who answer the phones, find the parts, solve the problems, turn the wrenches, help the customers and occasionally perform a small miracle to get a machine back to work when someone really needs it.
Some have been with us for a short chapter. Others have been part of the Itec story for years, and in some cases, decades.
They have watched the company change, and they have helped change it.
Building that team, watching people grow into new roles, seeing friendships form and families grow alongside the company has easily been one of our greatest accomplishments.
Because equipment can be replaced.
Good people can’t.
Growing Here Means Giving Back Here
As Itec grew, something else grew with it: our responsibility to the communities that helped us get here.
These aren’t simply the places where we do business.
They’re home.
They’re where our employees and customers raise their families. Where our kids play hockey. Where we volunteer, attend community events, support fundraisers and bump into one another at the grocery store.
Over the years, we’ve been fortunate enough to support countless local organizations, causes, teams and events. Not because it makes for a good photograph or because someone told us businesses are supposed to give back.
We do it because when your community supports you for more than 25 years, you have a responsibility to support it right back.
Still Itec
A lot has changed since 1999.
Itec is bigger today. We do more. We offer more. Our buildings, equipment and technology may look very different from those early years.
But the important stuff really hasn’t changed all that much.
We still sell equipment. We still repair it. We rebuild components, find parts, solve problems and give our customers options.
And somewhere in the shop today, there is probably still something torn apart on a bench while someone figures out how to put it back together better than it was before.
Maybe that’s Itec in a nutshell.
Keep working. Keep solving problems. Keep getting better. Take care of the people who helped you get here.
Because after all these years, Itec has never really been about the iron.
It’s about the people behind it.
Our team. Our customers. Our communities.
And more than 25 years later, that is still what matters most.
